Our Story
Evidence of God's grace and favourRhema West Christian Church is now Unveiled. Since 2016 God has been speaking to the leadership about our future and implementing the vision we believe He has given us including the vision to see Jesus Christ unveiled in every heart and home. We decided to be intentional about our tomorrow and the next generation and in light of our vision for expansion in 2020 we changed the name of our church.
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 3:18, NKJV)
Like the Scripture says, we believe that Jesus Christ’s finished work has removed the veil between us and our heavenly Father. The law no longer stands in the way of a living relationship with Him. As a church, we partner with God in unveiling the truth of His grace to all people. We see in the Bible that often when God moved people into a new season, He changed their name. The time has come for us to step into a new season. We remain affiliated with the RFC as our covering body and continue to pursue relationships with mentors in their ranks. Our footprint
As the church’s impact has grown in surrounding areas we have identified the need for a naming convention that is not limited by location or geography. Removing the ‘west’ allows us to more effectively plant new churches in other locations using a simplified naming structure.
Our identity
Having our own identity that cannot be confused with the name or location of another RFC church will reduce confusion. We found over the years we were often mistaken for the Rhema WestRand satellite campus of Rhema North or an extension service of the same.
Our offering
We identified a need for a ‘unique’ name and logo that will allow us to expand our offering across various touchpoints including the Unveiled Bible School, Unveiled Worship and our church app. We believe this will further help us to effectively reach people in an impactful and relevant way.

OUR BEGINNING
Cedarhill Christian Church held its first service on 17 February 2008 in a fully functional marionette theatre located in a historic home in Westcliff, Johannesburg.
We soon moved to a school hall in the Melville and Westdene area and finally made the transition to the West Rand in 2010. The place where we felt God has positioned us to bring the message of hope and to establish Jesus Christ in every heart and every home. We are proud to be an autonomous church within the Rhema Family of Churches (RFC) and are not a satellite campus or extension service.
A GOD-LED JOURNEY
2008
17 February 2008 Cedarhill Christian Church had our first service in a marionette theatre in Westcliff, Johannesburg.
2009
March 2008 Cedarhill Christian Church moves to our first ‘official’ venue, Orban Primary School in Westdene.
2010
Cedarhill Christian Church moves to Silverstar Casino, Krugersdorp on the Johannesburg West Rand, surrounded by the beautiful Magalies Mountains.
2011
We officially join the Rhema Family of Churches (RFC). Being affiliated to the RFC as our covering body allows us to pursue relationships with mentors in their ranks.
2012
Cedarhill Christian Church changes our name to Rhema West Christian Church.
2012
Rhema West ‘expands’ and makes use of the larger Platinum Ballroom facilities at Silverstar Casino in Krugersdorp on the West Rand, Johannesburg.
2015
Rhema West proudly hosts international guests including Ray Bevan (United Kingdom), Marilyn Hickey (United States) and Erich Engler (Switzerland).
2016
A year of ‘Larger than Life Grace’.
2017
Rhema West moves offices to Voortrekker Road, Krugersdorp.
2018 – Voortrekker Road, Monument
In May 2018 God orchestrates the purchase of our own property, a place we can finally call home at 261 Voortrekker Road, Monument, Krugersdorp.
Rhema West Christian Church officially begins services at 261 Voortrekker Road in June 2018, our home for 19 months. In that time we grew as a church and saw a tangible difference in the community around us. Many memories were made as we celebrated and grew as a church family, joining together in worship, hearing God’s Word, celebrating and learning as we built our home together.
2020 – Ruimsig Walk, Roodepoort
The year of divine fulfillment! January 2020 Rhema West moved from Voortrekker Road in Monument to new, bigger (air-conditioned) premises in Ruimsig. The old Farm City building, now called Ruimsig Walk, was transformed and lovingly renovated to become our home.
On Sunday, 16 February 2020 we celebrated our dedication service in our new home. Allowing us to accommodate more people in our larger auditorium, a dedicated Mommy & Baby Lounge, Thrive Kid’s area and ample parking space means that we are able to reach more people and make a bigger impact on the community around us.
2022 – Silverstar Casino, Krugersdorp
July 2022 marked the start of a season of consolidation and rebuilding for the church after the fallout caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting lockdowns.
Unveiled Church resumed services in the Platinum Ballroom at Silverstar in Krugersdorp, previously our home for 8 and a half years. As a church, we identified the opportunity to regroup and rebuild after the hard lockdown in 2020 and subsequent restrictions on religious gatherings. We welcomed the wonderful season of growth and the opportunity to fulfil our vision of seeing Jesus Christ unveiled in every heart and home. Our church family embraced the move and recognised that God is doing a new thing in our midst as He has promised in Isaiah 43:19.
2023 – Frans Korb Street, Oatlands
This year saw a continuation of the consolidation and rebuilding that started in 2022. Unfortunately, the doors at both Silverstar and the Voortrekker property had closed in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully the Lord went before us to provide a place where we could continue to gather in person.
Out of existing relationship, Unveiled was invited to take hands and share facilities with other Christian ministries at their Oatlands location. Our focus remains on authentic fellowship in the Holy Spirit around the Word of God. It is all about building people’s faith in Christ. Sunday services continue with vibrant worship, joyful children’s ministry and friendly interaction with each other.
